Gina K Mix it Up Monday

Here in Sydney, the weather has turned warm and very summery. Today is the last day of Winter and although there has been a slight breeze (great for getting the washing done), the temperatures have been in the low twenties. Just lovely for this time of year. Even the poor dog had a bath!! That has been my day, but I have managed to finally get back into my craft room after a very busy week.

First on the list to do was a card for Gina K's weekly challenge. Here is the link:

and here is my entry:

Now that this is completed, I'm off to get some more done.

Here is another one for the touch of gold challenge:

Hope you are having a great day.

Too early for Christmas?

I know it is a little early, but I have completed my first project for Christmas. I started the paper piecing of the centre hexagons last year and appliquéd it onto the background earlier this year. Paper piecing seems to be taking over my nights as I can sit with my husband doing something whilst he is watching TV. Over the past week I have been doing the quilting on my new machine. Oh, how I am loving the BSR on the Bernina. It makes life a lot easier in the world of free motion quilting. I am quite pleased with the effect, so here is the result:

IBS Masculine Challenge

Well here goes, I am entering another challenge today and this one is for the Aussie company Inspired by Stamping. I don't have any of their stamps yet but I am using Luka from LaLa Land.
Here is the link to the challenge:

This cute little guy I coloured with Copic Markers. I am not normally an orange kind of person but found this paper and decided to go for it. Anything to keep stretching the boundaries!

And the second one is:

I found some checker plate contact paper in a bargain store and thought it would make a great background for masculine cards. Have I found a lot of uses for it! LOL. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and the die cut gears are from 'Fancy That'.

Gina K Design Mix it up Mondays Challenge

Today I decided to have a go at the Gina K designs Mix it up Mondays Challenge. I haven't done many challenges so hopefully this is the start of something new.  Here is my card made with a Gina K duo set; Because of You. I have embossed the couple with white fine detail embossing powder and the greeting is embossed using the black fine detail powder.

Have a great day.

Thursday 22 August 2013

I am glad that work is over for this week! My craft room is awaiting and I am feeling inspired!

I have connected with the lovely ladies from Gina K designs group called Down Under Stampers and I have have spent the last few days trolling some blogs. Nothing like other people's work to get the juices following again. In the mean time I will share a simple card that I made for my dearest friend's daughter birthday. Jodi has been like a daughter to me and I have loved seeing this wonderful girl turn into a beautiful woman. Hope you had a fantastic birthday Jodi.

I had a very productive day yesterday in my craft room. I have now finished all my blocks for a quilt I started last year with an free online course called Craftsy BOM. I decided if I did this course that I would try and bust my stash and not buy any fabric. Hahaha!!! Of course, you can never do that. I was pretty good at using up a lot of fabric that I had in my drawers, but I did have to buy the background fabric.   I am busily doing the sashing. Here is the layout so far.
I'll post a photo as I get closer to finishing.

Friday 16 August 2013

I think I spend too much time on other people's blogs and never get the time to post on my own!
The weather here in the Mountains has been lovely and sunny, It is a hint of Spring but I know that winter hasn't finished with us yet as the nights are still cold.

My creativity has been lacking of late but I have accomplished a few cards. Here they are;
This Card is made using stamps from Gina K designs Vintage Chic collection and Spellbinders dies. Lace and ribbon from my stash on craft cardstock and patterned pattern from my collection.

Colouring and cutting out takes by back to my childhood and I find it so therapeutic. Here I have coloured a beautiful rose from the Stately Flowers 6 with copic markers and  adhered it to  classic ovals from spellbinders. The background is embossed with Stampin Up lovely Brocade embossing folder after being inked with Memento 'Bamboo Leaves'

How I love the wonderful stamps that come from Gina K designs. The tutorials that Gina gives each week are also fantastic and I have learnt so much from Stamp TV. The cameo in the above card comes from the set by Theresa Momber 'Timeless Treasures' and the tutorial on how to colour the cameo I learnt from her blog 'Crafting the Web'. Again I used me lovely collection of copic markers.

That is all for today and I hope that I will be back soon to share some more creativity.
